How to Edit and Adjust Images in Squarespace: A Step-by-Step Guide

Optimizing images on your Squarespace website is crucial for creating a visually appealing and professional online presence. This guide will walk you through how to edit and make adjustments to images directly within Squarespace, ensuring your site looks polished and engaging.

Step 1: Log Into Your Squarespace Account

  • Open your browser and go to squarespace.com.

  • Enter your login credentials to access your website dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to the Page with the Image

  • From the dashboard, select Pages.

  • Choose the page where the image you want to edit is located.

Step 3: Enter Edit Mode

  • Hover over the section containing the image.

  • Click on Edit (pencil icon) to open the content editor.

Step 4: Select the Image Block or Image Within a Gallery

  • If your image is inside an Image Block, click directly on the image.

  • For images in a Gallery Block, click the image you want to edit; a toolbar will appear.

Step 5: Open Image Editing Options

  • Click the Edit button (usually a pencil icon on the image or in the toolbar).

Step 6: Make Basic Adjustments

Squarespace offers several built-in adjustment tools, including:

  • Crop: Modify the aspect ratio or select a custom crop to focus on a specific area.

  • Rotate: Rotate the image clockwise or counterclockwise.

  • Flip: Flip horizontally or vertically.

  • Scale: Zoom in or out within the crop frame.

Use the draggable handles and sliders to customise the adjustments.

Step 7: Apply Filters and Effects

  • Choose from preset filters to enhance your image’s look.

  • Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation with the available sliders for precise control.

Step 8: Save Your Changes

  • After editing, click Apply or Save within the image editor.

  • Then, click Done or Save in the page editor to confirm the changes to your page.

Step 9: Preview and Publish

  • Use the Preview mode to see how the image appears live.

  • If satisfied, hit Publish to make the changes live on your site.
